sure
if you are not sure what the person likes (i.e. hard to shop for) and you know they've had their wallet for a long time now then a new wallet is good. it is a 'safe' gift.
your best bet would be to talk to a relative or friend of the guy to see what he likes and then get a gift that suits him (after all, buying a wallet for him is like buying clothes for a guy, and most guys would rather do that themselves).
